Product Introduction
Copper shot is a high-grade metal abrasive made from high-purity (red copper/brass) raw materials through processes such as wire drawing, shot cutting, grinding, and fine sieving. Compared with iron-based abrasives, copper shot has unique advantages such as being non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant, spark-free, and having good electrical conductivity. It is particularly suitable for surface treatment of non-ferrous metals where strict requirements for iron ion contamination are in place, as well as surface strengthening and cleaning in explosion-proof environments.
Qingdao Bairuitong's copper shot features high copper content, uniform particle size, good roundness, and extremely low dust. It can efficiently remove burrs while protecting the workpiece substrate from damage, making it an ideal consumable in the field of precision machining.
Chemical Composition of Copper Shot/Brass Shot
Copper Content: 99.95% Zinc Content: Trace (≤ 0.01%) Hardness (HV): Low (80 - 150) Key Advantages: Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, soft texture that won't damage workpieces.
Brass Content: 62% Zinc Content: 35% Higher Hardness (HV): (180 - 250) Key Advantages: High hardness, strong wear resistance, higher cleaning efficiency.
Grit Size Specifications
Copper shot is categorized by wire diameter, supporting customized production across the entire range from 0.2mm to 3.0mm:
Specifications (mm) Applicable Scenarios
0.2-0.4 Ultrafine Precision electronic components, removal of minute burrs, mirror polishing
0.6-0.8 Fine Stainless steel medical devices, connector surface treatment
1.0-1.2 Medium-fine Deburring of aluminum alloy die castings, polishing of copper parts
1.5-2.0 Medium Sand removal of non-ferrous metal castings, rust removal in explosion-proof environments
2.5-3.0 Coarse Cleaning of large copper parts, inner wall cleaning of pipes
Key Advantages
1. Iron-free and non-magnetic
Copper shot contains no iron and will never rust. The treated workpiece surface will not retain iron filings or pose a risk of corrosion, making it particularly suitable for surface treatment of non-ferrous metals such as stainless steel, aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, and copper alloys. It does not affect the quality of subsequent processing (such as welding and electroplating).
2. Spark-free and explosion-proof
Copper does not produce sparks upon high-speed impact, making it an intrinsically safe material. It is particularly suitable for surface cleaning and strengthening operations on equipment in petrochemical, mining machinery, and flammable and explosive environments, making it an ideal choice for shot blasting in explosion-proof locations.
3. Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity
Copper has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. When used to treat electronic components, connectors, conductive busbars, etc., it will not affect the original electrical properties of the workpiece; after removing the surface oxide layer, it can even restore or improve the conductivity of the conductive contact surface.
4. Soft yet tough, won't damage workpieces
Copper shot has moderate hardness, effectively removing tiny burrs and flash from die-cast and precision castings without causing workpiece deformation or excessive surface damage. The treated surface is smooth, uniform, and brightly colored.
Applicable Scenarios: Precision electronics, iron-ion-free applications, high conductivity requirements; general deburring, surface strengthening, cost-effectiveness.
Main Application Areas:
Deburring of non-ferrous metal parts: Removing burrs and flash from die-cast aluminum alloys, zinc alloys, and magnesium alloys without damaging the substrate and whitening the surface.
Stainless steel surface treatment: Removing oxide scale and applying a matte finish to stainless steel precision castings, fasteners, and medical devices to prevent iron contamination and rusting.
Electronics and electrical industry: Removing and polishing the surface oxide film from electronic components, connectors, busbars, and switch parts to restore conductivity.
Aerospace and precision machinery: Shot peening and surface finishing of high-strength aluminum alloy structural parts and titanium alloy components to prevent stress corrosion caused by iron embedding.
Explosion-proof environments (spark-free treatment): Rust removal, paint removal, and cleaning operations on equipment surfaces in flammable and explosive environments such as oil, natural gas, and chemical industries.
Polishing for Decorative and Craft Products: Used for polishing the surfaces of copper crafts, bathroom hardware, and lighting accessories, resulting in a uniform and soft finish.
Packaging and Storage
• Packaging Specifications: 25kg/bag (inner moisture-proof bag + outer woven bag), or ton bags as per customer requirements.
• Storage Recommendations: Store in a dry, well-ventilated indoor warehouse. Avoid contact with acids, alkalis, and salts to prevent moisture absorption, oxidation, and discoloration.
